The Department of Political Science was started in 1973 . The department has been dynamic in proliferating latest information on current politics more on practical lines to the students.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
Motivating the students to participate in different activities in the class room as well as outside the class room.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the most important faculties in our college offering Bachelor of Arts course and offering many subjects like Political Science, Public Administration, Economics and History and among them Department of Political Science is one of the important Department.
The Department of Political Science was established in 1973. Our Department offering course in B.A programme with various combinations via History, Economics and Political Science (HEP), History, Political Science and Public Administration (HPP), Economics, Political Science and Public Administration (EPP).

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Man is a social and political animal and Politics is an on-going process which aims at achieving the wellbeing of the individuals in the organized society. Aristotle the father of Political Science called Politics as the master science. Its scope is very vast since it covers the study of state, government, political system, power,the constitution and the laws which affect our everyday life. The subject is dynamic and interdisciplinary in nature. The Department disseminates political Knowledge among the students that will enable the students to understand the issues from local to global level.

Activity Report of Department of Political Science
For the Academic Year 2018-19
TEACHERS DAY
A programme was conducted by the faculty of Social Sciences on eve of Teacher’s Day on 05-09-2018, under the HOPE. About 40 students were participated in this programme. All lecturers from social science department also participated in the programme. First, Second and Final year B.A., around 40 students and lecturers expressed their views about importance of Education and Role of Teacher etc., Principal sir Dr.D.S.R.Rajender Singh addressed the students and staff and appreciated them for their participation. Students felicitated Principal Sir and Lecturers.
VOTER ENROLMENT CAMPAIGN PROGRAMME
Voter Enrolment Campaign Programme on 24.9.2018 was conducted by the Department of Political science Voter Enrolment Campaign was conducted along with students.20 students attended the programme.
ESSAY WRITING on Right to Vote
Essay Writings on 24/01/2019 conducted by the political science topic on Essay Competition on Right to Vote. Organised by Department of Political Science. Total 19 students participated in essay writings First Prize won by B. Priyanka, 2nd Year B.A Second Prize won by P.Sravani, 2nd B.Sc (B.Z.C.) Third Prize won by S.Srikanth Reddy, 1st Year, BA.
National Voters Day on 25.01.2019 conducted by the Department of Political Science.
Dr.D.S.R.Rajendra Singh, Principal, Dr.Vani, Vice Principal, Smt.D.Punyavathi, Lecturer in Political Science, Sri.Bhupal, Lecturer in Political Science, and 40 students participated in this programme Dr.D.S.R.Rajendra Singh explained the importance of voting in Democracy.

And presentations held at Government City College, Nayapul, Hyderabad on 5.2.2020. 2018-19 year, our B.A. Students N. The Department of Political Science arranged Guest Lecture on “Organs of Government” on 25.03.2019 Dr.P.Venkata Ramana, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Government Degree College, Kukatapally was the Resource Person and he explained the importance of Organs of Government and their role in the Democracy.
HOW TO USE EVM (ELOCTRONIC VOTING MACHINE) on 25.3.2019
The Department of Political Science has Conducted Voting Awareness programme. The Telangana State Election commission Presiding Officer Bharathi G.H.M.C. Madam was the Resource person and she explained how to Use the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the coming General Assembly in elections in Telangana State. This awareness programme was for the students and youth.The importance of right to vote was explained to them. B.A. students participated in the programme.. Dr.Vani, Vice –Principal, D,Punyavathi, Lecturer in Political Science, Dr.P.Sujatha, Associate Professor of Economics attended the programme.
MOTIVATIONAL CLASS on 04.04.2019
The Department of Political Science arranged a Motivational Class on 4.4.2019, Dr.Ch.Prasad, Principal, Government Degree College, Siddipet was the Resource Person and he interacted with the BA students and he explained the importance of social sciences in the present scenario and also explained that how to prepare for competitive examinations. Total 20 students participated in this programme.
Voter Awareness programme on 06.05.2019
The Department of Political Science in Collaboration with Eenaadu organized Voter awareness program in the College. Dr. Rajendra Singh, Principal, Prabhakar, Academic Cordinator, Dr.K.Sarojini Chakravarthy, IQAC Coordinator, Smt.D.Punyavathi, Lecturer in Political Science, Bhupal, Lecturer and Students were participated in this programme. FIELD TRIP
Department of Social Sciences, and Hindi of Government Degree College, Khairatabad organised a field trip to “Gandhi Shilp Bazaar-All India Exhibition-Cum- Sale of Handicrafts & Textiles” on 10-03-2021. We took students from our college from B.A- I, II & III year students who learnt about the Khadi and Gandhian philosophy.
Constitution Day Was Celebrated by the Political Science Dep’t on 26/11/2020. Principal Dr. Rajendra Singh paid respects to Dr.B.R.Ambadkar the architect of the Indian Constitution and spoke about the Indian Constitution and role of the members of the Constituent Assembly. The Preamble reading was done by students and faculty. All the faculty of the Social Science and other Dep’t were present on the Ocassion.

Department of Social Sciences has organised an extension lecture on “Relevance of Indian Constitution” on 26.11.2021. About 61 students from B.A.- I, II & III year are participated in this programme. Resource person of this programme Dr. P. VenkataRamana, Principal, Government Degree College, Chanchalguda, Hyderabad was invited as Guest Speaker. Faculty of Social Sciences has conducted “Human Rights Day” on 10.12.2021, in Room No.6. Almost 50 students are participated in this programme. On this occasion Vice- Principal Dr. M. Department of Social Sciences and NSS jointly organised “National Voters Day” programme on 25.01.2022 on zoom platform. About 60 candidates both faculty and students from B.A. are participated in this programme. The programme started at 10.00 AM. Dr. B. Rajendra Kumar Principal of GDC, Khairatabad, addressed the participants and motivated the students on importance of Voting System in India. Jyoti Rao Phule jayanti celebrations was conducted by Social sciences department on 11/4/2022 . Principal Dr K Rajendra Kumar, Vice principal Dr Vani madam and faculty of all social sciences participated in the programme. About 60 students attended the programme. Shirdesh and Swetha of BA II year and Lalith Suhas of BA lll year gave speeches on the occasion. The students learnt about the contribution of Phule in social reforms and women education.

DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE PARTICIPATED IN PLANTATION PROGRAMME OF TELANGANAKU HARITHAHARAM.
Telangana Ku Haritha Haram or Haritha Haram is a large-scale tree-planting program implemented by the Government of Telangana to increase the amount of tree cover in the state from 24% to 33% The program was launched by Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao on 3 July 2015. It is one of the Telangana Flagship programmes to rejuvenate degraded forests, protecting these forests from threats such as smuggling, encroachment, fire and grazing. GOVERNANCE , LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

D.Punyavathi is member of Social Sciences Club ,Bhagya Committee, Women Empowerment Cell, Cultural committee,and NSS committee.

The Department Celebrates Days of National & International Importance. The Department conducts Mock Parliament and Mock Assembly so that the students understand the parliamentary practices and Legislative procedures and become future Leaders.

The Depaartment of Political Science has proposed
- To invite eminent personalities for Guest Lectures.
- To conduct one day Workshop.
- To train the students for Jignyasa State Level Project and Mana TV presentation programme.
- To prepare the students for PG and Competitive exams.
