About Department of Library:

The College Library is located in a separate heritage building, which is located centrally on the college campus. The Library consists of a Reading Hall, separate stack rooms for storing textbooks, reference collection, competitive examination books, etc. The total area of the library is 3000 SFT. The main big hall is used for the Reference section, Competitive examination section, Circulation. The small three rooms are used for stock areas and the Internet section. A separate room is allotted at the entrance of the Library as Newspaper and Periodicals Section, meant for daily News Papers, Magazines & Journals.

The Library has a collection of around 33,000 volumes of books which covers all branches of areas dealt in the college. All the Textbooks are systematically classified and arranged subject wise and providing the shelves list. In library all books are arranged in open access system which allows the faculty and students to go to shelves and choose the books on their interested topic and side by side they can also glance that which books are available for barrowing on their choice.

The Internet center having the bandwidth of 100 Mbps and the library has three systems that are used for accessing e-Resources and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility has been provided for search and retrieval of documents in the library. The college library is a member of INFLIBNET N-LIST e-resources for the year 2019-20. N-LIST is a program that provides In-house/remote access to e-resources like e-journals and e-books in a different subject. It provides access to more than 5000+ e-journals (including current issues with 10 years back files) and 1,00,000+ e-books.

The College Library is fully automated using NewGenLib Integrated Library Management System with version 3.1.1 and in 2019. The Library housekeeping operations viz., Accessioning of Books, Circulation of Books (Check-In/Check-out), Members registration and day to operations are automated and the software is fully functional. The bibliographical data pertaining to books and other resources has been entered in the database.

Library Best Practices:

Department of Library Science is regularly conducting the following best practices for the benefit of Students and Faculty to create awareness and utilization of information resources available in Library for academic excellence.

Library User Orientation Programmes:
The Department of Library Science is organizing Library User Orientation Programmes, Awareness Programmes and Extension lectures to upscale the usage of library and its resources.

Book Exhibition:
The department of Library Science is arranging Book Exhibition on important occasions to showcase different collection of print books and to popularize them for usage.

Celebrating Library Day:
Every year the Library day is being celebrated on account of “National Library Week” during 14th to 20th November.  The World Book Day is celebrated on April 23rd every year. As part of this programme, the Library is conducting various activities for inculcating reading habits among the students. The activities includes Competition on General Knowledge, Essay writing competitions, etc. The best performers will get appreciation certificates and prizes.

Library Field Trips:
The department is conducting field trips to different libraries which are located in nearby places to make the students get exposure on various information resources available in their area of interest available in print and online. This activity will help the students to utilize the library resources optimally for academic excellence

Best Library User:
The Department of Library is selecting the best Library User every year.  The Prize will be given on eve of college annual day celebrations.  The best library user price is giving to the Student category and Faculty for who are visiting the library regularly and utilizing the library materials effectively.

 

Library Rules

IMPORTANT LIBRARY RULES
  • SILENCE & CLEANLINESS should be strictly maintained in & around the library.
  • Each student is eligible for One Non-Transferable Library ID card, on which he/she can borrow two Books for a period of 15 days or depending on discretions of librarian. If the student returns the book late the fine Rs. 0.25 paisa per day will be collected. (Except on Sundays, second Saturdays, college holidays & Librarian holidays)
  • These Library card must be RENEWED at the beginning of each academic year.
  • Students should bring Library ID Card without fail whenever they come to the library. Library books & other materials will be issued only on presents of library ID Card. If the card is lost, a fresh Library card will be issued after submitting written intimation to librarian with a fine of Rs. 3/.
  • You are solely Responsible for the Transactions Made against Your Library Cards.
  • All students should surrender their library ID card after completion of their course and obtain a “No-Dues” certificate from the library.
  • Avoid making Pencil/Pen Marks, Underling, or any other type of to the Books/Journal. If any such things are noticed at the time of returning the books, the Borrower will be held Responsible.
  • In case the book is lost, the borrower has to replace the same edition or the latest edition of the lost book. If the book is not available borrow has to pay the cast of the book. And overdue charges will be collected for any damages and late return.
  • Reference Books & Journals are Not for Issue and they should be referred within the library.

The department of library science every year celebrating the “National Library Week” from 14th to 20th November and World Book Day (Apr.23rd) . On this occasion to inculcate the reading habits in the students the library department conducting different activities like G.K.Test competition, G.S. Test,& Easy writing competition ext. and giving prizes to winners and also conducting  Book Exhibition, Orientation programme to the student.

Library department every year on eve of college annual day celebration presenting Best Library User prizes to those students and lecturers who are visiting the library regularly and utilizing the library materials effectively.
